2016-2017 Available Positions

Executive Branch:

 

  1. SGA President (Will N. Chandler, II, Incumbent)
    1. The duties of the SGA President are to preside over all meetings of the Executive Board and student body meetings; to make appointments and recommendations for dismissal to Executive positions; standing committees, ad hoc committees; to appoint persons to the college committees; to create ad hoc committees; to appoint the Chief Justice, Honor & Conduct Review Board; to approve or veto proposed legislation upon one week of receipt from the Senate (SGA Constitution 5.2).
    2. Rising juniors/seniors only; 2.7 minimum GPA; no financial or academic holds

 

  1. SGA Vice President (Robin B. Mckinnie, Incumbent)
    1. The duties of the Vice President are to act in the full capacity of the SGA President in case of his absence, resignation or dismissal; to attend all meetings of the Executive Board and student body; to preside over all regularly scheduled meetings of the Student Senate (SGA Constitution 5.3).
    2. Rising juniors/seniors only; 2.7 minimum GPA; no financial or academic holds

 

  1. Treasurer (Kirk Scott, Incumbent)
    1. The duties of the Treasurer are to consistently maintain accurate records of all financial expenditures and revenues handled by the Executive Board during his tenure; to process financial requisitions in a timely manner upon request from the SGA President or Student Senate according to the defined budget guidelines; to submit an accurate, written report of all financial transactions to the Business Office and the Student Senate upon request; to attend all meetings of the Executive Board and student body (SGA Constitution 5.4).
    2. Any rising upperclassman; 2.7 minimum GPA; no financial or academic holds

 

    1. Executive Secretary (Keyon M. Branch, Incumbent)
      1. To accurately type and prepare all minutes from Executive Board meetings to type and prepare all outgoing correspondence material; to attend all meetings of the Executive Officers and the student body; to uphold the name of Morehouse College, enforce this constitution, and to initiate, coordinate, and to implement programs, in conjunction with the President, to benefit the student body; and to perform all other reasonable tasks delegated by the President (SGA Constitution 5.5)
      2. Any rising upperclassman; 2.7 minimum GPA; no financial or academic holds

 

      1. Executive Director (Matthew Ramsey, Incumbent)
        1. To serve as, and fulfill all duties required of, the Co-Chairman of the Registered Student Organization’s presidents’ council; Attend all meetings of the SGA Executive Board and Registered Student Organization’s Presidents’ council; Maintain a working calendar of the SGA Executive Board, Senate, CASA, and Student Organization Presidents Council events; and solicit ideas from the student body and Registered Student Organizations to supplement the vision of the SGA Executive Board.
        2. Any rising upperclassman; 2.7 minimum GPA; no financial or academic holds

 

      1. Junior Board Trustee (Johntavis Williams, Incumbent)
        1. The duties of the Senior and Junior Board of Trustees are to attend all Student Welfare Committee meetings associated with the Board of Trustees (BOT); to conduct a meeting open to all students, for the purpose of addressing student concerns to be brought to the attention of the BOT (this meeting must be held at least two weeks prior to each meeting of the BOT); to attend all meetings of the Executive Board and the student body; to compile a written report of their findings of student concerns and this should be published for the student body after each BOT meeting (SGA Constitution 5.7)
        2. Rising sophomore/junior only; 2.7 minimum GPA; no financial or academic holds

 

Legislative Branch:

 

Duties of Senators: To commit to the assigned residence hall as outlined by the Student

Welfare & Concerns Committee for the academic year to be present within their assigned residence hall (i.e. hall meetings, canvassing) a minimum of one (1) time monthly to obtain comments, concerns, and auxiliary data for the Student Senate to submit monthly reports via excel data sheets and word summaries outlining the information gathered within their district assignment be responsible for correspondence with residents in their assigned residence hall to devise submissions for legislature based on their obtained data within their assigned residence hall, which will be distributed to the senate’s respective committees

 

      1. Senator-At-Large
        1. These specific senators represent the entire student body. There are (3) senator-at-large positions available in the fall, and (3) available in the spring.
      2. Class Senators
        1. Class senators are representatives of their specific class. There are 5 available seats per class.

 

 

 

Class Positions: These positions vary depending on the student’s classification. Only students who hold the proper credit hours of a class can run for that class position. All students must have a 2.7 minimum GPA and cannot have any financial, or academic holds on their accounts.

 

    1. President
      1. The presidents of the classes shall direct all of their class activities and preside over their respective classes and class officers meetings. The class officers, in conjunction with the Class President, shall initiate, coordinate and implement activities to raise money for their respective classes, and to positively promote the name of Morehouse College (SGA Constitution 8.2)
    2. Vice President
      1. Assist the President in all manners. Shall take charge in the absence of the President. Commit to all other duties of the class council as directed by the President.
    3. Treasurer
      1. Deals with all financial aspects for the class. Oversees all fundraising events and properly manages funds. Commit to all other duties of the class council as directed by the President.
    4. Secretary
      1. Maintain the notes and overall organization of the class council. Commit to all other duties of the class council as directed by the President.
    5. Student Justice
      1. Represents his classmates on the Honor and Conduct Review Board. Listen to the alleged cases of students and fully represent that student along with the other four justices (three from each respective class, and the Chief Justice, appointed by the SGA President).
    6. Dean of Delegation (non-elected position)
      1. The Dean of the Delegation shall be selected by the senators of their respective classes (i.e. all senators who are juniors will meet to decide which senator among them will be the Delegation Dean of the Junior Class.) At-large senators are eligible to be the delegation dean of the class of which he is a member. The Dean of the Delegation shall be the only senator to also be a member of his class’s respective class council (SGA Constitution 6.2.i)
